Fish hepatocytes and S9 fractions from Primacyt

Since the introduction of the OECD test guideline 319 in June 2018 and in accordance with the 3R principals more and more researchers worldwide use hepatocytes and liver S9 fractions from rainbow trout and other fish for in-depth risk-assessment and safety-evaluation of chemicals. We at Primacyt provide fish hepatocytes and S9 fractions for our clients at federal research institutions, inspection agencies, universities and the (agro)chemical industry.

Our products are used for IVIVE (in vitro in vivo extrapolation) to study the bioaccumulation of rodenticides in animals and the registration of pesticides. Primacyt has maintained cold water fish species like rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), warm water fish like common carp (Cyprio carpio) and even salt water fish like atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) under controlled housing conditions. We have prepared hepatocytes and S9 fractions according to OECD319A/B. Recently, first studies using Primacyt’s products have been published and can be accessed at https://lnkd.in/druqX7Jw and at https://lnkd.in/dgQKkG8Z.

Cryopreserved hepatocytes from all three species can be used in suspension assays and stay metabolically active for up to 24 hours. Cryopreserved carp hepatocytes can even be cultured for several days showing the typical polygonal hepatocellular morphology of mononuclear hepatocytes.
