We do probably have one of the world-wide biggest portfolios of liver derived products. PRIMACYT offers liver cells and hepatocytes from a huge variety of different animal species. These species include human and many other mammals, including farm animals, as well as vertebrates like birds and fish.

Obviously, these different species show different demands with regard to liver cell isolation, cryopreservation as well as thawing and cultering of the hepatocytes.

At PRIMACYT we have developed and validated different protocols and media/kits for thawing, plating and culturing hepatocytes from these different animals.

Thawing hepatocytes for suspension culture is an important step towards safe and successful experiments. For hepatocyte thawing, PRIMACYT offers a thawing kit for cryopreserved hepatocytes. The kit components are shipped at room temperature, to be stored at 2-8°C upon arrival. The kit includes a detailed and easy to follow hepatocyte thawing protocol.

The kit contains media sufficient for thawing of 1 vial of cryopreserved hepatocytes. Kit components:

HWM: Hepatocyte Washing Medium

This kit is designed for most mammals, with the notable exception of rat and minipig. It is also suitable for thawing and plating of bird hepatocytes.

Thawing Kit for Fish Hepatocyte Suspension Assays (TK-FHSA)

Fish hepatocytes require different media and assay conditions the mammalian liver cells. To address the particular demands of trout, salmon and carp hepatocytes, PRIMACYT offers a thawing kit specifically designed for cryopreserved fish liver cells. The kit components are shipped at ambient temperature and have to be stored at 2-8°C.

The kit contains media sufficient for thawing of 1 vial of cryopreserved hepatocytes from Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar), Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and Common carp (Cyprinus carpio). It includes an easy-to-follow detailed thawing protocol. Components: please see table below.
