Culturing hepatocytes is of crucial importance in research and development. PRIMACYT offers a complete culture system to allow for a serum-free culture of differentiated mammalian hepatocytes that maintain hepatocellular functions for an extended period of time in culture.
The HEPAC2 culture system, originally developed for human hepatocytes, was successfully transferred to other hepatocyte cultures from other mammals including Cynomolgus, Beagle, rat, mouse, Göttingen minipig and rabbit.
The HEPAC2 system is a combination of a specifically adapted chemically defined culture media (HHMM, Human Hepatocyte Maintenance Medium) in combination with Collagen I as extracellular matrix (ECM).
PRIMACYT Standard Rat Tail Collagen Type I CCP – Collagen Coated Culture Ware.
Conditions for enhanced cell differentiation can be created by plating hepatocytes onto coated culture ware. This mostly results in higher density and proliferation rate, requiring less serum and growth factor concentration in parallel.
Rat Tail Collagen Type I alpha 1 is be regarded as the standard coating means achieving these objectives.
The use of PRIMACYT’s collagen coated plates allows us to plate of fresh isolated hepatocytes from human, Beagle, Cynomolgus, rat, mouse, Göttingen minipig and New Zealand White rabbit using Hepatocyte Plating Medium in the absence of any serum supplements.

Rat Tail Collagen has a shelf life of least one year, the Collagen coated plates should be used within 6 months.
